Delta 50-760 - Customer Reviews

  1. Awesome powerful dust collector
    Review by Sean

I did a LOT of research over a couple weeks on dust collection systems, reviewed dozens of models, and price searched for days. The Delta 50-760 dust collector was by far the best 1.5 HP available with a 1 micron filter bag and easily at the best price ($370+$10shipping from Toolking). The product arrived in a huge heavy box, but was super simple to unpack and assemble. A lil top-heavy with the motor mounted "up" instead of hanging, but sturdy enough once assembled.

I quickly found out after I spun it up for the first time that the motor lid arrived with a small dent (which the motor blades grazed). Lid unscrewed off easily, though, and the dent was banged out with a rubber mallet in seconds. UPS probably had an "oops" transporting the 100 lbs beast. With lid fixed, it spun up great; easily powerful enough to suck up a cat. I was able to trivially turn it into a 2-stage with a trashcan + cyclone lid and it has been running great for several months now. Quite happy.

The one/only downside I've run into is that it sucks a lot of power. I blew the breaker several times at first until I removed other things off the line it was drawing from. Fortunately, converting to 230 volts is a snap.

No problems with the bag. Might still go for the 0.5 micron bag now that I've been spoiled with 1 micron. Love it!

  2. Great machine for moderate woodworking

This is my first dust collector. So far, I'm -extremely- pleased with the result. I enjoy turning boards into dust, and this addition helps keep my shop very neat as I expected it would. I did a lot of research about the available dust collectors in this general price range, and this one had received several accolades related to price and quality. Pros: the cart that it's on is very mobile and moves around the shop very easily. The 1-micron top bag is also a huge plus that will hopefully keep me healthy for as long as I'm doing this. So far, I've hooked it up to my table saw, router table, planer and jointer. It has had no problem with everything I've thrown at it. I've gone through 1 1/2 collection bags of walnut so far, and it's gone well. Assembly took me about an hour, the directions were very straight-forward. Cons: I haven't found any yet. As the other reviewer mentioned, the bags do take a little finesse to install, but it's not mind-bending.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Delta 50-760.

  3. They need to develop a better attachment for the collection bag.

It does a good job for small machines but is not adequate for a machine like a planer, the bag does not have enough capacity . Emptying the bag and trying to re-attach it will leave you pulling your hair out. (Posted on 3/24/10)
