The Porter-Cable 8924 is a 9.6 to 19.2-Volt Battery Charger. Designed to prolong battery life, the advanced diagnostic charger senses the condition of the battery before charging. If the battery is too hot or too cold to be charged without risking damage, the charger will wait until the battery is in the proper temperature range before charging. A green light flashes while the charger is waiting and then lights solid during charging. When the battery is fully charged, the light goes off and the charger switches to trickle-charge mode. The battery can be left on the charger and it will remain fully charged without overcharging. Also, a second indicator light will flash red during charging to indicate a battery that is getting weak or has been fully discharged. If the battery is nearing the end of its useful life, the red light will continue to blink during the charging cycle. When a battery needs to be replaced because it will no longer take a charge, both lights-red and green-will blink during charging.
