The Makita 5007MG is a Factory Reconditioned 7-1/4-Inch Magnesium Circular Saw. The magnesium components create a lightweight saw (10.1 lbs) which is tough. The Makita Circular Saw features a large cutting capacity (2-1/2-Inch at 90 degrees) and bevel capacity (0-56 degrees) with positive stops at 22.5 and 45 degrees. The saw also features two built in LED lights and dust blower which provide greater cutting line visibility. The blade wrench is attached to the saw for fast and convenient blade changing.

I purchased this saw in Jan to use for projects around the house. Received the saw in good physical condition with very little wear and tear just a few marks. Plugged the saw in to ensure power. All seemed to work well until I pulled the saw out for its first use to cut 2x6’s for a deck. Plugged the saw into a 15 amp 25ft. extension cord no light, pulled trigger nothing. Unplugged the extension cord and plugged directly into the outlet same results. Reconnect miter saw to ensure extension cord was not bad. Miter saw ran fine. Took Makita saw into a repair shop to have it checked out. After three weeks in the shop the saw was returned with $67 worth of repairs that were covered under the warranty. Replaced 1 field, 1 armature and 1 brush set. My only complaint is this one slipped through the recondition process without really be repaired. On a more positive note I purchased other reconditioned tools from Toolking with no issue. (Posted on 9/2/10)

My purchase was about $30 less than other on-line refurbished 5007MGs, so I was a little skeptical. Not to worry: It had a couple of scratches on the base that I would have done myself the first day I used it.
Levers are big--I have large hands--the miter gauge is easy to read and adjust; the depth of cut lever is positioned on the opposite side of the handle from the blade which makes it easy to access; the depth of cut scale is easy to use.
Cuts like a charm. I tried one about a year ago and was impressed. The mag base plate is rugged and--I hope--will stay flat for a long time. I've been using a Super SawCat for about ten years--the model with a rear pivot and really like it. But the aluminum base plate is susceptible to bending and affects cutting.
So, I like the 5007MG...and will be putting the SawCat in my next yard sale.
