Hobart 500500A - Customer Reviews

  1. Hobart 500500A Refurb
    Review by Greg
    Rating:
      (5 of 5)

Very happy with the transaction, the speed of shipping and with the welder itself. The only thing that seems to have been used was the ground clamp, where someone may have started to attach the ground cable but probably not even used to weld. Otherwise everything looks and operates great (Posted on 5/25/11)

  2. This welder is really great

The Hobart 140 is reviewed everywhere as being a great beginners welder. I would definitely have to agree. Within a couple hours I was welding with shielding gas and producing my first welds ever - which turned out looking and performing very nicely. If you're looking for a small welder for home projects, get this one, you wont be disappointed! I got the reconditioned unit, and it has a very small dent in the sheet metal on the back of the welder. It works wonderfully well, and i definitely do not regret getting a recon unit. They even sent a spare ground clamp (the original had probably been used 4 times). The Hobart website is nice to peruse around on too.

  3. Excellent Purchase

This unit was purchased after i was allowed to use a friends hobart 140. All i can say is that after not touching a welder in almost 10 years this thing made it easy to do the jobs i had around the ranch.
The last flux cored welder i used was just a royal POS, and this, i was amazed with the quality and the just the sheer ease of use.

Would recommend this to any one out there. You will not be upset that you spent the extra $$$ on this unit. not to mention you are keeping the USA alive.

I looked and looked for a good welder for the right price. I found it here. The price is right and welder is one of the best rated welders in the business. It has 5 out of 5 stars on NorthernTools.com. And that is out of over 100 reviews. (Posted on 4/3/10)

Looked new except the ground clamp had a mark on it like some had drawn an arc ( nothing wrong with it ) but there was a new one in the box. Used the free shipping (7-10 bus days ) got it in 4 days. First time to buy at ToolKing, will be looking more often now. (Posted on 11/23/11)

  8. Reconditioned Hobart MIG Welder
    Review by Orrilay
    Rating:

Received item very quickly. Welder appeared to be brand new. Installed wire and argon/CO2 bottle, adjusted gas flow and wire rate and Welder works like a champ. I don't know why anyone wouldn't buy a refurbished unit from Toolking considering that it is just as good as a new unit, with same warranty. (Posted on 3/3/12)

  9. Excellent welder
    Review by Erik

I couldn't tell this was reconditioned. At all. I was also told by half a dozen welders that I should avoid 110v welders like the plague, and they were all wrong. I won't be doing 1/4" in one pass for structural joints or anything, but I don't do that anyways. This thing welds 1/8" steel all day long. There are only two things I'd like to do but can't with this. I wish I could weld aluminum (but realistically, any MIG welder should have a spool gun and a lot of power for that, so it was a choice I made, not a problem with the product), and I wish it was powerful enough to do clean welds on stainless steel. The latter of those is the only thing that may make me buy a bigger welder one day. Otherwise, I would use this one forever, until it quit. (Posted on 3/16/12)
