The DeWalt DC930KAR Factory Reconditioned 14.4-Volt Cordless Drill Driver Kit is a great alternative to 18-Volt Drill/Drivers when a lighter weight tool is needed.

I like the drill very much, although it is much heavier than my other 14.4 Dewalt drill.
I bought this because i needed a new drill and i went with the 14.4 because i have other 14.4 tools and figured I could use the extra batteries.
Well, the drill is nice, plenty of torque, but the batteries are JUNK. I got very little, VERY LITTLE use out of them before they started to die within driving 3 or 5 screws. (Posted on 4/13/10)

I've always preferred the 14.4V over the 18V because it always provided plenty of power and time between charges while being considerably lighter, allowing them to be used much longer with less fatigue.
Although initially thrilled by the price for what was advertised as factory 'New' not refurbished kit, complete, incl.charger and two XRP battery packs.
Upon receiving the tool My thrill quickly turned to dismay. 'What's happening to DeWalt? this driver felt much larger and heavier than any of the three or four 14.4V DeWalt drill/drivers I'd previously owned. I was prepared to attribute this to weakness from an extended illness I'd recently suffered, but the unsolicited comments of other builders who used it, made it clear things had changed (and not for the better). Had DeWalt engineers actually succeeded in traveling back in time, making their tools heavier while providing less run time? It appears so, and at a time when the competition has been catching up (or in this case surpassing them) What I've found most disappointing is the battery run and recharge times (I've always bought the higher end models and made sure they came with high output XRP extended run time battery packs. The famous DeWalt torque results from their tools ability to accept the rapid dump of battery power. Of course this results in a decrease in run time when using standard output cells, The XRP batteries provided a higher amp/hour output to compensate and until now had always been more than satisfactory. unfortunately that does not apply to this model, it has maybe 1/2 the run time as their older models and a third more time needed to recharge. If this entire generation of 14.4V models all suffer from increased weight and shorter run times, You'd be better off with a 18V model (I doubt their any heavier) or (and I hate to say this because every time I've done so in the past I've always come back to DeWalt.) do some research and consider another manufacturer.
